Was vor über 300 Jahren klein begann, erfreut heute vor der historischen Rathaus-Kulisse als größter Weihnachtsmarkt im Vogtland. In über 60 Hütten unter der imposanten Pyramide lässt es sich nach Herzenslust stöbern und staunen. Der Schwibbogen funkelt, Weihnachtsweisen versprühen Besinnlichkeit und aus dem speziell kreierten Becher schmeckt der duftende Glühwein gleich doppelt gut.
Zur Freude der Kleinsten erscheint der Weihnachtsmann täglich mit einem prall gefüllten Geschenkesack - mal zu Fuß, mal im Feuerwehr-, mal im Polizeiauto. Adventsauftakt ist der Lichtl-Umzug: Begleitet von Weihnachtsmann, dem Christkindl aus der Partnerstadt Steyr und großem Gefolge tragen die Vogtland-Originale Rupperich, Wattefrau & Bornkinnel das Weihnachtslicht zum Altmarkt.
Und die Weihnachtsausstellung „Ihr Kinderlein kommet“ lädt als einer der vorweihnachtlichen Fixpunkte ins Vogtlandmuseum ein.
